Modular Cubicle Shelving
A captive partition-mounted shelf system intended to adapt to different cubicle wall depths without permanent fixing.
What I’m building
The core idea is a load-bearing hook or clamp over the partition, with a reusable lower interface for shelves and accessories. The partition carries the load; the modular connection should handle the arrangement.
The design needs to work across unknown partition thicknesses, which makes adjustability a first-class requirement rather than an afterthought.
What I’ve learned so far
- Design around load paths first, accessories second.
- A screw/clamp adjustment can cover multiple partition depths if the pressure pad and hook geometry are forgiving.
- The lower interface should allow future shelves and braces without redesigning the top mount.
The partition should carry the load; the printed system should make that load path adjustable, repeatable and easy to extend.
What I’m testing now
- Print fit coupons before a full shelf.
- Validate clamp pressure without marking the partition.
- Test a wide S-hook style against multiple narrow supports.
Release status
In development — no download yet. First-fit, clamp-pressure and load-path validation are still underway.
